The word "kohaku" means "red and white" in Japanese. Kohaku is considered one of the most popular Koi varieties and is part of the along with the Sanke and Showa. Kohaku are believed to be one of the first Koi variety ever developed.
This particular Koi is comes from the famous Dianichi farms in Japan. the pattern is a "Maruten", meaning it has a uniform deep red Tancho spot (also referred to as a crown) on it's head as well as red patterns on the body. This Koi is a simple beauty- very stunning to look at.
