The word "kohaku" means "red and white" in Japanese. Kohaku is considered one of the most popular Koi varieties and is part of the along with the Sanke and Showa. Kohaku are believed to be one of the first Koi variety ever developed.

This particular Koi is comes from the famous Isa farms in Japan. The pattern is very uniform and beni (red) is deep red color. This Koi is a simple beauty- very stunning to look at. The appearance of the red is a called a Nidan or a 2-step pattern.
