The word inchkohaku" means "red and white" in Japanese. Kohaku is considered one of the most popular Koi varieties and is part of the along with the Sanke and Showa. Kohaku are believed to be one of the first Koi variety ever developed.

This particular Koi is comes from the famous Isa farms in Japan. The pattern is a "Maruten", meaning it has a uniform deep red Tancho spot on it's head as well as other red patterns on the body. The appearance of the red is a called a Yondan or a 4-step pattern.

The beni (red) kiwa (the border between the red and white) is very well defined. You can also see that the developing beni on the other side which will improve the symmetrical appearance of the pattern on this Koi's body.
